Creative Overload

Creative Overload is a university project where we were free to create any genre of film within set guidelines. The idea came from my own frustration at struggling to fully conceptualize the film. In a twist, I made that very problem into the solution—while maximizing the use of resources I already had on hand.

The goal here was to show that I can work with limited resources and equipment and still create good content with it… because I sold my camera… and at this point, I could only believe in the power of creativity.

Challenges & Solutions

❓Problem 1: I was experiencing creative overload—I had too many ideas and couldn’t decide which one to pursue.

✅ Solution: I turned the very problem into the solution. And that’s how I came up with the concept!

Problem 2: It was always raining heavily, so I couldn’t film new outdoor footage.

Solution: I dug into my archive of old videos and photos, then revitalized them to fit into the concept and story.

Problem 3: I’ve been using my room and the things in it for most of my films and videos—the audience might get bored seeing the same location and things repeatedly.

Solution: I came up with extreme close-up shots and some unique angles and lighting tricks that let the viewers feel and see what’s familiar to be surprisingly fresh and entertaining while delivering the story.
